Kaylan is 14!!!!!

My precious Kaylan is 14! I can't believe it. It seems like yesterday that my "pookie" was running around playing with her dolls. Now she is a teenager and it's killing me. Happy 14 Kaylan, we love you!!!"

As you will notice from the following pics, Kaylan is very much like her mother (especially the long, lithe body........don't I wish). She loves taking pictures and does so frequently..........enjoy!!!

Where has the time gone?

So it's been two months since my last post. I'm such a loser! Things have been crazy busy but that is no excuse to let my fans down! :-) I cannot believe Halloween has come and gone. It saddens me to think about my kids getting older. Daniel promised me when he was 4 that he would never grow up so that was a big fat lie..............thanks Daniel! Another volleyball and soccer season are over, hockey has just begun and cheerleading and more volleyball are on our schedule. Why do we do this to ourselves................. So Im starting back with a few posts with my parents and my babies!

Daniel and Papa on their way to a UK football game. My dad got them matching hats (isn't that too cute?)

Jensen aka, the soccer phenom, after a well played match! (Don't I sound British?) Her Mimi and Papa are so proud of her and love to watch her play...............go Jensen!

Kaylan with her grandparents at the beautiful wedding of our friends Daniel and Jenny Galloway. Next thing you know it will be Kaylan's wedding............get that thought out of my head. Below is a pic of Kaylan and the stunning bride.

Random Thoughts...are there any other???

OK so I promised Kaylan that I would blog about her visit with her girlfriends this summer so here we go. Two of Kaylan's dear friends from FC camp, Natalie Woolf (formerly from Northern Ky, now from Southern St. Louis) and Ellie Swisher (from Shelbyville, Ky) came for a few nights and they had a great time. We were still in the process of moving (sorry girls) but they still managed to do quite a few things.

Here is a pic of the girls with Daniel in our kitchen. I had just impressed them with a batch of "Sandy's cookies". We call them that because the lovely Sandy Tipton makes the best chocolate chip cookies and every time we we see her she bakes them for us.........we love you Sandy!

and here is Jensen with a mouthful...........

The girls also went shopping, went to the movies, and made picture frames at our local pottery store. By the way I still haven't shipped Natalie and Ellie their frames.........I believe they will appreciate them more the longer they wait...........by the time they get them they should LOVE them. Here they are with their frames (after painting, but before firing). Jensen and Karson also went and made adorable dishes for their pets.

watch out Picasso!!!

We had a great time and would love to have them visit again! Here they are as they say their "good-byes."

Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I don't feel this way, but my platinum friend Tammy does. :-)Personally my heart is breaking because all of my children are back in school. :-( No seriously, it seems like summer just started........I mean I never even got my tan started. I know I sound like everyone else out there, but the older you get, the faster the time goes by. Here our a few pics of my wonderful children on their first day. You tell me who looks the most excited (hint, hint, it's not Daniel).

Jensen is going in 5th grade and Kaylan is in 8th so they are officially the "big kids on campus."

Daniel is thrilled to be starting his junior year...............and equally thrilled that I made him pose for pictures at 7:00 in the morning. "Seriously Daniel, smile and look happy."

We also were fortunate to have Teddy's parents, Grandpa and Grandma Butler, visiting from Brooklyn for a week. The kids always enjoy having them here and I am sure they love eating my home cooked meals.............quit laughing, I cooked at least 3 of the 7 nights. :-) They try to come at least twice a year and hopefully we will be visiting them sometime near the end of the year. They are wonderful parents and grandparents and are very giving and loving. Teddy and I are so thankful for everything they have done and continue to do for us.

Time flies, when you don't do much

I cannot believe that it is almost time for school to start. I have yet to get into the swing of summer so I am definitely not ready for my 6:00 alarm. So many things have happened in the last couple of months so we will try to play catch up. All of the Butler children went to Ohio camp in June and they LOVED it. It was pretty strange without them............Teddy and I didn't know what to do so we sat around and looked at each other saying "what do you want to do?" and that turned into us not doing much of anything.

Daniel and Tyler Goble on the first day of Ohio Camp...............how cool are they?

Kaylan and her good buddy Peyton Goble checking into their cabins.

Leaving our baby at camp was very hard for me, not so much for her. It was Jensen's first year and she absolutely loved it.
On Wednesday Teddy and I met the campers at Kings Island (you expected us to go all week without seeing them) which was a blast although if you know me you know I don't like rides, the sun, or the outdoors very much! :-)

I'M BACK

Ok, I know it has been forever and a day since I have posted. Things in Butler land have been crazy. We have finally settled into our new house which we have been moving into for over a month. Why didn't we pack? You may ask. Well, we thought we would do it the hardest way possible............we are the Butlers after all. :-)

These are pics from my birthday. My family suprised me with reservations at my favorite restaurant and a new phone. I can now text so watch out because I'm driving everyone crazy. The top one is my first try with my cameras self timer so that is why it isn't the best. Also this was taken after dinner (I looked much better before) :-)

Ducks, eggs and peeps........oh my!!!!!!!

Ok..... so it has been a while and I apologize..........I know you all must be wondering about the Butlers so let me get you up to speed. Every year we have a trio of ducks that come to our house in the spring. There are 2 males and 1 female and they stay until it is time to have their babies. I'm not sure but I have taken pics and I think they look like the same group year after year..........:-)

Jensen is quite the mother..........someone has to be around here!

So here are my precious babies on Easter morning.........aren't they sweet? I think the last time Daniel wore a suit was in my friend Sandy's wedding and he was 5...........seems like yesterday!

Of course it wouldn't be Easter without dying the eggs............here are the results!!

Peeps are Daniel's favorite............I don't get it but supposedly many people feel the same. Before the annual Easter Egg hunt (in our house) Daniel decided to sacrifice a peep in the microwave. It was actually pretty cool..........you can see the amazement on our faces in the reflection of the microwave. Also make note of 2 things.........1) the microwave looks pretty clean and 2) ignore me stuffing chocolate in my mouth!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Spring!!!!!

Two, Four, Six, Eight.......

This weekend Kaylan had a cheerleading showcase with all of the middle schools in Lexington performing............she did an awesome job and we are so proud of her (she is in the back row on the left in the photo.) Kaylan cheers for Tates Creek and the entire Titan squad did an amazing job. Let's just say I had a full serving of drama with plenty of bobby pins, hairspray, sponge rollers, bows and enthusiasm on the side.

A pic of Kaylan with one of her bff's, Sam, looking amazingly awesome
(Kaylan's favorite saying) before their showcase. Both of these girls were also recognized for maintaining a 3.0 or better throughout middle school. Pretty, talented and smart........what more could you ask for?
The Butler family also continued celebrating Daniel's hockey state championship with a great banquet complete with speeches, awards, slideshows and lots of yummy food. The pic above is after sitting for several hours and stuffing our faces. BTW Daniel did start off the night with his shirt tucked in.................what's a mom to do?
Daniel's high school also had an assembly where the hockey team was announced and honored. The Lexington Fire Department then gave the team and coaches a ride through town while their fans honked and cheered them on...............very cool!!!

Teddy with Daniel and our other son, Michael Champa, after the ride on the firetruck. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the celebration but I have to say Teddy was the happiest of them all................"take a picture of me on the truck, Kim."

We are the champions......my friend

Daniel's high school team, the Lexington Catholic Ice Knights defeated Trinity High School 2-0 in the State
Championship game on March 2nd in Louisville to become the K.H.S.H.L. (Kentucky High School Hockey League) Champions. We had a great season followed by a most awesome tournament where Daniel played a couple of his best games of the season.....way to go #29!!!

proud papa teddy with daniel (on the left) and senior michael champa after the big win...

about 12 members of the hockey team came over to the butler house later that night to have their heads shaved, some of which started out with pretty long do's.............way to celebrate the win!!!!!!!!!!

My first post!!!

Just to let you all know, this is very new to me. I just recently discovered the world of blogging and have spent hours peeking into the lives of others. I know it's crazy..........it is 2008 and I had no idea what was available out there. I am going through a phase which causes me to do almost nothing but sleep during the day so I thought starting a blog might inspire me to get out in the world. Here is a little diddy about my fam. I am a stay at home mom who is very unorganized and has no excuse for it. My husband, Teddy and I are the parents to three of the most amazing kids in the world.

Daniel is 16 and a sophomore in high school. He plays hockey year round, loves music, works at our local roller rink and is the funniest person I know and we love him so much!

Our next in line is Kaylan who is 13 and is in 7th grade. She is a cheerleader, volleyball player, and runs track for her school. She is the sweetest, most talkative, always in a good mood child you could ever have.

And last but not least we have our baby Jensen. She is 9 years old and is in 4th grade. She plays soccer, takes violin and is in chorus and girl scouts. She is our shy but sweet, never sits still princess and we love her to death.

My husband Teddy and I have been married for 17 years and he is the most supportive, dedicated husband, worker and father. Please enjoy a taste of our life in the bluegrass and hopefully this will be the beginning of a wonderful adventure (or at least a pretty good time).
